Coming up Saturday, 5 August: Faure's Requiem and Cantique de Jean Racine

On Saturday, 5 August, at 2.30pm the choir of St Peter's Eastern Hill will be holding a fundraising concert at St Peter's church.

This is a chance to hear stunning music while also supporting one of the finest church choirs in Melbourne.

The concert will feature the Fauré's original chamber version of his much-loved setting of the Requiem mass, as well as his Cantique de Jean Racine.

The concert will also feature other cherished works that are an integral part of the choir's repertoire, including Maurice Duruflé's gregorian motets.

As well as an ensemble of strings, the concert will also feature two soloists: bass-baritone Nicholas Dinopoulos and soprano Erika Tandiono. Nicholas and Erika are renowned soloists in Melbourne and will greatly enhance the beauty of the Requiem.

Money raised for this concert will fund choir scholarships and expand the choir's music programme.

The afternoon's programme will also include sparkling wine and refreshments. Concert goers will also have the opportunity to meet our music director Andrew Raiskums.

More about St Peter's Choir

The choir of St Peter's Eastern Hill isn't only one of the oldest Anglican church choirs in Melbourne, with records tracing it back to the early 1850s, it's also a spiritual resource for the community it serves and for the wider Diocese of Melbourne.

Works like Fauré's Requiem and Cantique de Jean Racine are often regarded as concert pieces in their own right. But St Peter's is one of the few Anglican church choirs where these beautiful sacred works remain intimately woven through the liturgical and spiritual life of the parish.
